written by Phil for the DBSA [Depression-Bipolar Support Association]
(Tuesday it will be read aloud by the Chairman at their next meeting)
Because alone,
one sees the lonely,
and thus they can warm each other.
The heart of one
who is alone
keeps beating.
It is like a single hand
that still seeks to applause
life
though it claps alone.
The only one to hear it
is another also with one
hand clapping,
and so their hands clap
together.
And everyone hears
and applauds along.
We tonight are the ones
who recognize each other
so we can support each other.
Still, we are the ones who
understand uniquely
so we can contribute to society.
We've been the limbless
tossed in white-hot nets.
So now we know to become
the net-work
that captures freedom
and shares it.
And we know the joy of
gratitude
thus multiplying it
into our infinite gift,
to share.
