500 free outstanding diverse  online courses from top universities open to all with internet access -options of certification, self-paced etc.

 

This initiative was started in  2012 by Harvard, MIT, and Stanford Universities, with a handful of free courses for anyone in the world with Internet access. The stated intent apparently was, (at first testing popularity gingerly) in the US and other countries, to as fast as possible to jumpstart an initiative to jumpstart improved education available for the people as key to revitalizing the opportunity condition of a world sagging in various ways. [It was also a form of advertising, if one wanted to be cynical.]

It was a form of investment they could afford and that they calculated should go viral in university participation, student participation,  and then in its effects on society and maximal number of lives.

So far, these few years, the result in participation by more universities even worldwide including China, and then by countless students worldwide so far seems to have been quite reassuring.

 

BUT THE MAIN POINT HERE IS: EMPOWER YOURSELF!
